Welcome to the official website of the World Agency for Good Governance
The World Agency for Good Governance is a non-governmental organization with special status granted by the Secretary-General and accredited to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). We work to promote the principles of good governance worldwide.
« Good governance » is a multidimensional concept that plays a central role in international discourse, particularly promoted by the United Nations since the end of the Cold War. Although lacking a universal definition, the concept aims at fostering the sustainable development of societies while respecting human rights. It is interpreted in various ways by international institutions, each emphasizing specific aspects such as economic management, human rights, public sector reform, or the fight against corruption.
In 1998, Kofi Annan, then Secretary-General of the United Nations, highlighted the crucial importance of good governance in his annual report to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), stating that it is « perhaps the single most important factor in eradicating poverty and promoting development. »
The WAGG is dedicated to promoting the principles of good governance at all levels of society. Committed to the ideals of multilateralism and inspired by European and international guidelines, we strive to train and raise awareness among political actors, business leaders, and the general public on governance methods essential to addressing the challenges of the 21st century.
Our primary ambition is to serve as a relay for the values and standards promoted by the United Nations system, in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and in alignment with the objectives of international institutions. Through our activities, we strive to disseminate essential knowledge to establish effective, ethical, and transparent governance within states, NGOs, civil society, businesses, and other networks.
The WAGG stands out for its ability to initiate and support a wide range of actions aimed at strengthening global governance while remaining aligned with current and future priorities. Our mission is based on promoting a culture of good governance through expertise, training sessions, and conferences led by highly qualified professionals within an international network, with a particular focus on financial management, anti-corruption efforts, and ethical compliance.
As an endowment fund, the WAGG adopts a transparent approach to fundraising. We are committed to supporting non-profit organizations and initiatives that share our values and vision of ethical and inclusive global governance.
